This past week was a tough one for every team in the district, as every team was battling to make playoffs.  On Wednesday, our Brahmas were at Littleton taking on Madison.  Both Madison and MAC have great teams, and they showed it on the court.  The score was very close through the first half, and at halftime, the Brahmas had a 33 to 28 lead.  The Brahmas continued to lead and had a 40 to 36 lead after three quarters.  This game was a heart stopper as the lead changed repeatedly in the fourth quarter.  Some late scores and a steal gave the MAVS he game as our Brahmas went down 54 to 51.  On Friday, the Brahmas traveled to Roosevelt for their re-match with the Rough Riders.  The Brahmas took a close lead in the first quarter, 17 to 15.  Roosevelt came back in the second quarter and managed to take a 29 to 22 lead over the Brahmas at the half.  The third quarter was equally fast-paced, with excellent play from both teams, and at the end of the quarter, the Brahmas were ahead 44 to 40.  This game went down to the wire, but the Brahmas came up short by two points.

Our Brahmas our now in third place in district, but anything can happen in 26-6A.  They have one game this week on Friday at 7 pm, as Churchill comes to the MAC gym for their second meeting.  Come on out and support our Brahmas as they close in on district.

Our Brahmas only had one game last week.  On Tuesday January 9th, the Brahmas were in action against Roosevelt at MAC.  This was a hot a tightly contested game with Roosevelt taking a 13 to 11 lead after one quarter.  The battle continued with MAC down 18 to 25 at the half.  That is when our Brahmas caught fire and tied the game at 34 after three quarters.  Our Brahmas continued the great play to take the win 49 to 45.

Our Brahmas are now 3-1 in district and sitting in the number two spot.  This week the Brahmas were scheduled to play Churchill on Tuesday at BAC.  However, due to the inclement weather, the game has been moved to Wednesday at Churchill.  Only JV and Varsity will play.  Freshman games have been canceled, and will not be made up.  JV will play at 5:30 pm, and Varsity will play at 7 pm.  Then on Saturday, the Brahmas will be back at BAC at 11 am to take on Lee.  Come on out and support our Brahmas!  Go Brahma Basketball!  by Pete Martinez

After a long break, our Brahmas opened district play on Saturday December 30th, against Reagan.  The Brahmas started a little slow and were down 13 to 8 at the end of the first quarter.  However, our Brahmas came back and led at the half, 18 to 15.  They continued to battle with the rattlers, but came out on top taking the game 37 to 32.  On Tuesday January 2nd, the Brahmas were back at BAC taking on Johnson.  The Brahmas struggled but put up a great effort taking a 79 to 57 loss to Johnson.  On Saturday, the Brahmas were on the court once again taking on a tough Madison team.  The Brahmas came out to play and they did just that.  At the end of the first quarter, they were up 14 to 9 over Madison.  By halftime, they had an impressive 30 to 20 lead.  The second half saw the Brahmas continue their lead, in spite of some great play by Madison.  At the final buzzer, the Brahmas took the win 53 to 41 over Madison.  Way to go Brahmas!

Our Brahmas are now 2-1 in district and sitting right behind Johnson for the top spot.  This week the Brahmas have one game against Roosevelt, on Tuesday at 7 pm at MAC.  You do not want to miss this game, so come on out and support our Brahmas!  Go Brahma Basketball!
